"...In any given image, there are at least four authors: the photographer, the camera - each camera describing reality in a unique way, reality itself that speaks with a vengeance, and finally, the person who is reading the image.

...I also began to feel and hear these images as speaking objects. Images/objects that are about time, that have aged and weathered to acquire the pathetic beauty of lessons learned from history. It is a bit like when really old people tell you about their lives, tell you about dramatic things that happened to them, the tragic moments. In their stories there is a certain fondness for the pathetic beauty of such moments because, after all, it's the only life that they've ever lived."
